In the male-dominated field of Accounting, McCoy has distinguished herself as a leader.
McCoy is no stranger to bold vision and purposeful growth. She’s led key initiatives to strengthen Abacus client and community impact, including serving in the lead HR role, which spearheaded growing the firm from 35 employees to nearly 100.
“To make an impact, you need to know when to take smart risks.” said McCoy, “I challenge the status quo by taking risks and trying new things. I motivate others to produce results. I know I’m in an incredible position to inspire and encourage our firm’s employees to make a difference in the world.”
Abacus has certainly lived its value of innovation and stayed ahead of current trends, all to help clients and support employees. Abacus CPAs has seen continued growth over 20% each year, while the accounting industry grows at only about 3% to 5% annually.
“Our industry struggles to recruit experienced talent, so our focus has been to develop potential and create a culture that encourages our experienced talent to stay.” says McCoy, “It has been an incredible and positive challenge – and it is working.”
McCoy has lead many initiatives to help retain top talent in their firm. She created the firm’s Impact Retreat and all-staff meeting, improving communication and ownership with employees. She oversees the firm’s committees, inspiring others to promote a culture of service and encourage action. She supervises learning & training, ensuring all staff are educated, compassionate and thoughtful professionals. And she manages all firm communication, to ensure cohesion and impact – both internally and externally.
“I am humbled and inspired by the position of influence and leadership where I currently serve.” said McCoy, “And I use each and every day to guarantee that those around me feel encouraged, inspired, and motivated to make a meaningful difference.”
During the uncertain times with Coronavirus, McCoy helped firm leaders adapt, embrace change, and thrive in the opportunity to reassure clients, motivate employees, and diversify the firm’s services. Abacus added new service lines, quickly and thoughtfully, to give clients the best guidance to make smarter decisions.
“We moved forward, kept employees busy with meaningful work, and strengthened our no-guilt flexible work environment – removing job stress so staff could focus on clients.” Said McCoy, “We knew what it would take to be successful, and we did that and more, growing stability for the future.”
McCoy is also a valuable community volunteer and family role-model. She’s involved with Rotary Club of Springfield Southeast and has previously served leadership positions with Rotaract and the Springfield Chamber’s young professionals’ group, The Network. Adrienne is an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women and Ronald McDonald House Charities. And in her personal time, she’s served as a soccer coach and Girl Scout Troop Leader for her daughters.
“It’s important to me that both of my daughters see a strong, confident role-model in their mother who is a community champion and effective business leader.” says McCoy, “I’m proud they know I’m spending my life making a valuable impact with my coworkers, with my business and with the community.”
